Release Date: July 7, 2025

This release introduces new enhancements and fixes that improve compliance accuracy, streamline data management, and support state-specific workflows.

✨ Feature Highlight: Improved Language Tracking

We’ve enhanced the existing Language tracking features in LACES to support more consistent data collection and improved usability, enhancing how language data can be searched, viewed, and analyzed by state and local providers.

Key Features:

  • Simplified Language Type: Updated to First Language (L1), Second Language (L2), and Other

  • New Proficiency Fields: Reading/Writing and Speaking/Listening now use standardized dropdowns: Basic, Intermediate, and Fluent

  • Primary Language Designation: Each individual can have only one language marked as Primary

  • Field Cleanup: The Native Language and Date fields have been removed

To Preserve Existing Data:

  • Previous Language Type values (e.g., Home, Dominant, Native) have been migrated to the Comment field

These updates apply to all student, staff, and tutor records. Upon request, First and Second Language fields can be added to your Student Intake form. For questions or to request additional messages, please contact your State Administrator or LACES Support.
